2 weeks agoOver the years, Outlook users can accumulate a surprising amount of mailbox data. Old PST files may contain everything from important emails and attachments to contacts, calendars, and project-related conversations. Keeping all that information accessible becomes challenging when you need to switch computers, migrate to a cloud platform, or simply archive older data.
I recently started exploring ways to make these archives easier to manage and came across the SysInfo PST Converter. What interested me was its ability to work with both PST and OST data and convert mailbox items into several commonly used formats.
Depending on the requirement, users can export emails to EML, MBOX, MSG, PDF, CSV, HTML, JSON, DOCX, and other formats. Contacts and calendars can also be exported to formats such as VCF and ICS. This makes the software useful for different scenarios instead of restricting users to a single type of conversion.
Another feature that seems practical is selective conversion. If an old PST contains many years of emails, there may be no reason to migrate everything. The PST Converter Tool allows users to select specific folders and apply date-range filters. That could make a large migration more manageable and reduce unnecessary data in the destination.
Maintaining folder organization is equally important. A mailbox with hundreds of custom folders can become confusing if everything is exported without its original hierarchy. The software includes an option to preserve the existing folder and subfolder structure.
Attachment handling is also worth considering. Users can choose how attachments are managed depending on whether they need them included, separated, or excluded from the conversion.
Before using any conversion application, I would personally create a backup and test the process on a copy of the PST. Checking the converted data before running a complete migration seems like a simple way to avoid surprises.
For anyone currently sitting on years of Outlook archives, how do you manage them? Have you converted your PST files to another format, or do you continue keeping everything inside Outlook?
