MS-102 Prep Strategy and Where to Spend Your Study Hours Based on the Updated Domain Weights

Hey everyone, wanted to share how I've been structuring my study time for MS-102, since figuring out where to focus made a bigger difference for me than just working through material linearly. Quick context first - Microsoft refreshed the English version of this exam on April 28, 2026, adding Microsoft 365 Backup and expanding the Defender XDR coverage, and the exam itself is scheduled to retire in October 2026, so if you're using older study guides or dumps, double-check they reflect the current weighting before you rely on them.

The biggest shift in my approach came once I actually looked at the current domain breakdown instead of assuming all four areas deserve equal time. Manage Security and Threats by Using Microsoft Defender XDR now sits at 35-40%, which makes it the single largest domain by a wide margin, so this is where I've been putting most of my hours - working through Defender for Office 365, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud Apps, and threat investigation and response scenarios rather than just reading feature lists. Next up is Implement and Manage Microsoft Entra Identity and Access at 25-30%, covering user and group management, licensing, RBAC, and conditional access, which I've been treating as my second priority block since together with security it makes up roughly two-thirds of the exam.

What I have settled on is roughly splitting my study time in proportion to these weights rather than giving each domain equal attention, and layering in Microsoft MS-102 Exam Questions throughout each domain block so I can immediately test whether I actually understood a concept or just skimmed it. Since a lot of the questions are scenario-based rather than pure recall, especially in the security domain, I've also been forcing myself to work through actual Defender XDR incident scenarios hands-on instead of just memorizing which tool does what.

Curious if anyone else studying for this has found a different weighting approach useful, or if you're finding certain domains taking way longer than their percentage would suggest.
